Amazing raw food experience

Guys,  I had such a fun night! I went to a media preview at a new raw restaurant/culinary institute called 105degrees. You may have heard about it – Gina from the Fitnessista is currently attending school there and also working there in the evenings. I even got to meet her for a brief minute and she was super sweet :)

The restaurant is very open and beautiful. It’s so clean and modern and well-lit.

They had beautiful tables set up for all the attendees.

The culinary studio was really nice also. I would love to be able to take a few classes there – which I may do at some point in the future.

I could make some serious smoothie magic with these babies!

The little shop sells all sorts of amazing things – I will definitely be going back to pick up some RAW ICE CREAM at some point.

There were several pretty cocktails made with sake and sparkling wine, among other things. I didn’t have any because I was driving + running afterwards but I heard great things.

The food was even more delicious than I could ever have hoped for.

I had one of each dish. There was a red pepper wrap thing (for more official terms be sure to check out Gina’s blog!) that was to die for. It reminded me of Caprese – tomato, basil, avocado and some sort of nut cheese. Delicious! There were also raw pizzas, which were very good as well but I had to pick the mushrooms off because they are one food I just don’t dig.

There were the famous raw lasagnas. They seriously tasted like real lasagna only healthy and rich and just plain amazing.

There were also little noodle pots with some sort of peanut or asian sauce. So good. Even Coach Barry Switzer thought so!

And then, last but not least, DESSERT!!

Both of these desserts were good – but the little pistachio square was super yummy. I’ve been needing a chocolate fix and this definitely did the trick.

I am seriously so happy I had the opportunity to go the preview tonight. There aren’t that many cool foodie things to do in Oklahoma and this was was heaven to me. I will absolutely be going back to 105degrees many, many times in the future.

After the gym, I went and ran the 2 miles I was unable to run last night – but it was mediocre compared to my night so I’ll leave it at that! I’m going to fall asleep in a lovely raw food coma right now. Night!

A true yogurt mess

First off, just want to clarify that I thoroughly enjoyed 90210 and Melrose Place last night. I watch a lot of mindless TV, so I wasn’t knocking it by any means ;) . I was a little confused by Melrose though, just because I didn’t watch the old show.

Today was a day like any other. Perhaps slightly more stressful than the average day, but I believe the stress was self-induced. Most of it was trying to decide between going to a super cool foodie event tonight and getting nothing done for the evening or having dinner with my roommate and her Mom and getting lots of things accomplished. Still haven’t made the decision though.

Lunch today was made last night. I had lots of tomatoes that were about to go bad, and I saw that Heather had made a homemade pasta sauce so I attempted to do the same. I didn’t really follow her instructions though because I was rushed, so the result was less of a sauce than it was cooked cheesey tomatoes, but it was tasty nonetheless.

I combined it with some whole wheat pasta and served that with a side of steamed broccoli, which I’d been craving since my very un-green dinner last night.

I randomly decided to throw on a scoop of cottage cheese for some added protein, since carby lunches tend to spike my appetite.

I’ve always enjoyed cottage cheese with pasta, but I was surprised at how much I liked it with the broccoli. This was a VERY satisfying lunch.

Which is good, because the rest of my lunch was unsatisfying to say the least. I was running around the apartment like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get a million things done, which resulted in my delicious yogurt mess falling to the floor and spilling everywhere :(

I didn’t have time to pack a new snack, so I’m thinking I’ll be partaking in some White Chocolate Wonderful pb straight from the jar this afternoon! Any excuse to do that is okay with me, haha.

Sometimes I wonder if it is worth going home for lunch everyday because I am always so rushed. But if I didn’t go home I couldn’t blog! I think I’m just going to try to streamline the lunch process a little bit from now on. I might just have to limit it to eating only.

In other news, Lynn from The Actor’s Diet has a new movie coming out! If you live close to any of these theaters you should totally check it out. Here is a letter from Lynn herself. Spread the news!

Hello Everyone!

Starting this weekend my movie “White on Rice” opens in limited release – it’s a comedy I acted in over two summers ago, had an amazing time making, and I couldn’t be happier with the finished product. The official site with trailer and complete info is at: www.whiteonricethemovie.com.

Getting an indie film into movie theaters these days is no easy feat and our success depends largely on our friends, families, and community being involved during opening weekend. If you or people you know live in one of the areas where “White on Rice” will play (see below), please support us by purchasing a ticket and encouraging others to as well!

If you’ve already seen the movie at a film fest or sneak preview (thank you!) I’d appreciate it if you would actively spread the word – every ticket helps our chances of expanding across the country. We don’t have a big budget for marketing so we rely heavily on word-of-mouth – chat us up at parties, email your friends, twitter, facebook, message boards, etc….

Here are the theaters we’re starting out in – for each one, we are booked for about one week, and will hopefully extend our stay if we do well at the box office.
