Five Days of Oats: Day 5

Sorry for not posting this morning. I told you not to hang your hat on those posts, haha. I ate my breakfast at work this a.m. so I had nothing to blog about until now. But breakfast was pretty great!

These coworker-provided breakfasts are really hit or miss. For example, last week we had donuts. I had one, and enjoyed it, don’t get me wrong. But the breakfasts I really enjoy are the ones where I get to experience new food that I wouldn’t normally eat.

Cue today’s selection. I started with something that I do normally eat – fruit.

I haven’t had pineapple in over a month, so this was quite a treat.

There was also an egg-filled pastry that I sampled.

This was okay, but it had ham in it so I just picked at the pastry and left most of it.

My favorite element of today’s breakfast were the rice and bean cakes!

I have no idea how these are made, but they’re sweet little brownie-type things composed of rice, red bean paste, and nuts. They were sweet, but not overpoweringly so. I loved them!

I also think it’s cool because beans and rice are complimentary proteins (I think) so this was a source of protein in addition to being a treat. You don’t often get that from a pastry. They were super filling, too. I didn’t get hungry for lunch until well after noon, which is unusual for me.

I did eventually get hungry though, and I was pretty excited about my final batch of oatmea for the weekl. Per my preparations yesterday, I had another empty peanut butter jar to implement into my lunch. And not just any pb jar…

A White Chocolate Wonderful jar! Oh heavenly day. I knew immediately that this jar of oats was going to be beyond decadent.

I made PB&J oats with my old faithful – apricot preserves. And of course there was some fresh banana in the mix. Glorious wonderment of apricotty, peanut buttery, oaty goodness.

I transported it back to work again to give me something to enjoy during the last slow-moving hours of the week. So here I sit, oats in hand. Enjoying this with an embarassing amount of enthusiasm. It’s a good thing I’m alone in here.

And that wraps up an entire week of eating oatmeal for lunch. I enjoyed every moment of it. However, I’m looking forward to a few non-oat related meals in my future :)

According to my new sheh-jool, I won’t be posting tonight. However, a post could creep up on you if I get bored. Who knows… ;)

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?
