Mo Protein

Hey hey! It was fun hearing how long it takes you all to fall asleep. Many of you are like me and lay in bed 30 minutes to an hour before the Sandman comes, and some of you are out like a light. Caitlin from The Twenty-Fifth Year gave a super cool suggestion of closing your eyes and moving them back and forth like you’re reading to fall asleep quickly. I’m definitely going to try that tonight. I need to be sound asleep by 9:30 p.m. so I hope it works!

Today felt really hectic for some reason, but in particular happened so I’m not sure why I felt that way. My supervisor did come in to talk to me about some semi-exciting work stuff that got my head spinning. That might have had something to do with it.

Lunch today was I will henceforth be referring to as Janetha’s Bomb Mix, or JBM.

In case you are unfamiliar with it the combo is simply garbanzo beans, low fat cottage cheese, and ranch seasoning. Tastes amazing and it’s choc full of protein.

You may or may not have noticed that I’ve been eating a lot more protein-rich foods lately. I’ve never really paid attention to how much protein I eat and I do kind of think that protein is sometimes over-hyped a bit. However, I want to experiment with eating more to see if it helps my energy levels any and if it helps me gain muscle mass. Right now I’m eating between 80 – 100 grams a day. I haven’t noticed a different yet, but I’ve only been doing it a few weeks so we shall see!

Speaking of protein, I consumed half of this bar while running some errands on my lunch hour.

Tasty, but I can only handle a few bites of it at a time for some reason.

Later on in the day I munched on a kiwi.

I’ve got a tight schedule this evening. I’m meeting Lisa at the gym in the morning for a Body Pump class, so I have to streamline my morning routine tonight so I’m not late for work tomorrow. I won’t get home until 6:45ish which doesn’t leave me much time for getting ready. I am going to make it work though, and I’m super excited about the class and meeting Lisa in person :)

I’m about to head over to the gym now and give HIIT a try. I fear it may be a smidge too hard core for me, but I’m gonna give it a go!

So relieved that tomorrow is Thursday. This week was never-ending but now the end is in sight! Enjoy your night! (I am such a poet, right?)

On time

Good morning friends! I made it to work on time today, woo hoo! I would have been early but I had two wrecks to get through on the way in. To be clear, I’m usually always early to work, but ever since returning from Mexico I just can’t seem to get here before 7:59 a.m. It bothers me. But the quest to become an early riser presses on, and soon I will have that all resolved :)

Anyways, last night I decided to just chill out and relax. I got home a lot later than I usually do and there were a couple of things going on I was kind of peeved about so I just wasn’t in the mood to be overly productive or active. I just chilled on the couch and watched American Idol and definitely felt better about everything before going to bed.

Dinner was simple and comforting – exactly what I needed last night. I had Amy’s Chunky Tomato Bisque for the first time and it was so delicious for a canned soup.

Don’t you hate those soup rings on the bowl? My pictures are ugly enough without that biznass going on. Speaking of ugly pictures, I cannot wait for spring so I can take my pictures in natural light again. One of the million reason I hate it getting dark so early.

I also had a grilled cheese sandwich last night, because you can’t have tomoto soup without a grilled cheese!

Brandi mentioned the other day that she grilled her grilled cheese with olive oil, so I gave that a try. She was right, it was crispy-licious :)

After some phone chatting (blech) and bathing I turned in and slept fairly well. I’ve been doing this this where I wake up right after I fall asleep and right before I’m supposed to get up. It’s super annoying, but I’ve been falling asleep faster so that’s nice.

I didn’t manage to wake up until 6:37 this morning (does anyone else set their alarm clocks for really random times?) but it was still early enough to get things done without being in a rush. Tomorrow morning I have special plans and  have to be up waaaaaaaay early (for me), so I enjoyed the extra few minutes today.

Have a good day guys! We’re half way through the week already. Well not really already, because this week has been dragging by.

How long does it usually take you to fall asleep?
