Power?

Hello! Ice is falling from the sky :(

That’s ice on the ground, not snow. Blah. I just have all my fingers and toes crossed that the power lines will hold up. I enjoy living alone a lot, but living alone with no power? Pretty boring. The benefit though, is that I can look a hot mess and no one sees me :)

Working from home today was interesting, it was definitely hard to stay focused and not having my actual work computer made things difficult. But I managed to be semi-productive I think. And now it’s 5 p.m. so work is over!

Lunch today was some leftover Indian Lentils with 0% Greek yog.

Look at that delicious sunlight. That will be gone soon. Again, please stay with me power!!

Remember when I said I was going to try not to be snacky all day? Yeah, that did NOT happen. It started with an Chocolate Fudge Myoplex Lite from Lisa.

Yum. I’m enjoying this protein thing. After that I did lots of ab work since it was around the time that I’d usually take a break at work. Six pack here I come ;)

I snacked on some unpictured grapes throughout the day, but the mother of all snacks was some cheese wontons I picked up in the freezer section of the grocery store.

Total impulse buy and totally unhealthy but they were so delicious!

Alright, well I’m off to enjoy the electricity a little bit more by doing some cardio on the elliptical. Have a good night loves!

Winner, Winner Oatmeal dinner

Good morning! I’m working from home today. Our 63 degree temps are now below freezing and there is supposedly a major ice storm a brewin’. Honestly, it doesn’t seem like it’s doing much out there. But the news channels are predicting an apocalypse, so I guess we’ll see.

But let’s back up to last night. I tried something for dinner that Janetha has been raving about for the past few days.

Peanut butter oats paired with some nonfat greek yogurt and huge blackberries that were on sale at Target – so good! Side note: homegirl needs some new bowls, no? I have no idea what that gray line is but it’s permanent not some random food residue.

All mixed up. Winner, winner oatmeal dinner :)

I was planning to head to the gym this morning, but I spent the whole morning instead wrestling with the decision of whether or not to go into work. I just kept having flashbacks of Christmas Eve when I went in and then ended up spending 4 hours trying to make the 30 minute commute home. I chatted with a few coworkers online while trying to decide what to do.

Also, being the brilliant person that I am I blended up a smoothie to drink even though it’s freezing out there ;) I sipped on the smoothie while staring out the window trying to decide what to do.

Like I said, it wasn’t really doing anything so I was really thinking I should go in. But then I turned to the news.

They just kept insisting that it was going to be a catastrophic event and that people shouldn’t be out driving unless they absolutely had to. So I decided to stay home. It will probably not do anything now since I decided to stay home since the time that I actually decided to go in there was a blizzard. Needless to say, I feel guilty. But I’m really hoping I did the right thing.

I set up shop in the spare room with my loaner work laptop so I could attempt to work as best I can. I don’t have access to all my files, so it’s hard.

So that’s where I’ll be for the day. I’ve already started feeling mighty snacky since I’m off of my routine and stuck in the house, but I’m going to try keep to my usual meal/snack schedule that I have at work.

I’ll be back later as long we keep our power :)

Have you ever been in a major ice storm?

In 2002, right after I got my driver’s license, we got an intense ice storm and lost power in my town for over two weeks! That was an interesting experience. It’s crazy how life changes when you have no electricity. We get a lot more of those in Oklahoma than we do snow storms. Fun stuff :)
