Good morning! I’m working from home today. Our 63 degree temps are now below freezing and there is supposedly a major ice storm a brewin’. Honestly, it doesn’t seem like it’s doing much out there. But the news channels are predicting an apocalypse, so I guess we’ll see.
But let’s back up to last night. I tried something for dinner that Janetha has been raving about for the past few days.
Peanut butter oats paired with some nonfat greek yogurt and huge blackberries that were on sale at Target – so good! Side note: homegirl needs some new bowls, no? I have no idea what that gray line is but it’s permanent not some random food residue.
All mixed up. Winner, winner oatmeal dinner
I was planning to head to the gym this morning, but I spent the whole morning instead wrestling with the decision of whether or not to go into work. I just kept having flashbacks of Christmas Eve when I went in and then ended up spending 4 hours trying to make the 30 minute commute home. I chatted with a few coworkers online while trying to decide what to do.
Also, being the brilliant person that I am I blended up a smoothie to drink even though it’s freezing out there
I sipped on the smoothie while staring out the window trying to decide what to do.
Like I said, it wasn’t really doing anything so I was really thinking I should go in. But then I turned to the news.
They just kept insisting that it was going to be a catastrophic event and that people shouldn’t be out driving unless they absolutely had to. So I decided to stay home. It will probably not do anything now since I decided to stay home since the time that I actually decided to go in there was a blizzard. Needless to say, I feel guilty. But I’m really hoping I did the right thing.
I set up shop in the spare room with my loaner work laptop so I could attempt to work as best I can. I don’t have access to all my files, so it’s hard.
So that’s where I’ll be for the day. I’ve already started feeling mighty snacky since I’m off of my routine and stuck in the house, but I’m going to try keep to my usual meal/snack schedule that I have at work.
I’ll be back later as long we keep our power
Have you ever been in a major ice storm?
In 2002, right after I got my driver’s license, we got an intense ice storm and lost power in my town for over two weeks! That was an interesting experience. It’s crazy how life changes when you have no electricity. We get a lot more of those in Oklahoma than we do snow storms. Fun stuff

Um that oatmeal looks AWESOME!! I wish we’d have a major ice storm here now, so I wouldn’t have to work.
I think I could eat oatmeal every meal of the day, 7 days a week.. it’s so versatile! Don’t beat yourself up about not going into work, I’ve heard that it’s supposed to hit crazy hard in Oklahoma. My mom is freaking out because the last really bad one (Dec 07, i think??) left her without power for 1 week!! Insane.
yumm i had that oatmeal creation yesteday too! SO good! like cheesecake!!
no i havent ever been thru an ice storm!
enjoy your day home!
dont feel guitly, just enjoy haha! Im about to leave work in about an hour
Hmmm oatmeal.
Nop, never had an experience like that. It never snows here in Lisbon (it snowed like..twice in the last 60 years and it wasn’t even “real snow” ahah). I’m grateful though, I’m not a big fan of snow and we’re honestly not prepared for that kind of weather.
That smoothie looks so good!
Have a great day!
That smoothie looks delish! What’s in it?
I’ve been in a blizzard before, not bad as long as you’re warm inside and have power and snacks- hopefully you’ve stocked up. It’s kind of nice being able to sit inside and watch the chaos around (of the weather, not people- I hope).
I wouldn’t have gone to work either- I consider not going to work when it rains! haha
yuhm! you tried it! muy bueno. hmm i dont know about ice storm.. well, yeah hail storm, is that the same thing? i have been in countless blizzards here in utah. i love them.
Ohh, pb oats and yogurt…I like! Must try that.
I’ve never been in an ice storm (thank god) but many a snow storm. I hate driving in it. I don’t trust the other drivers
I love mixing yogurt into my oats… makes them so creamy dreamy!!
Stay warm and safe!! Believe it or not, we have had an ice storm here in Atlanta. It was back when I was in college and the power went out for a few days and it pretty much sucked. Thank goodness it was during a weekend when I was at home and we were able to use our gas fireplace to stay warm and gas stove to heat food up.
Alright, I’ve just got to try the oatmeal combo. I liked your addition of berries!
I’ve never been in an ice storm….but a snow storm, heck yes. I think you did the right thing staying home…driving on ice (or snow!) sucks a lot. I’ve crashed twice on the ice. No fun for anyone.
did you use the banana PP? did ya like it?
Girl, I definitely think you made the right decision; always better safe than sorry!!!
i think it’s smart you stayed in. don’t feel guilty for putting your safety first!
Your computer desk looks so organized!! And that is the smoothest, creamiest looking smoothie ever!! I want one!!
