St. Paddy’s Day 8K

Hey guys! How is your Saturday treating you. Mine has been great – the St. Paddy’s Day 8K with Lisa was a major success.

I woke up this morning feeling less than stellar (I know my perpetual sickness is annoying, sorry), so I headed to Target to pick up some Theraflu. There was no backing down! Lisa met me at my apartment and we headed over to the race together. Before we left I ate a slice of peanut butter and banana toast and some orange juice, but I was running behind and forgot to snap a picture.

I was so glad she came with me. I think I would have been bored by myself.

I took my camera on the run (hence the growth-like bump on my hip) so we acted goofy to distract ourselves from the daunting (to me) distance.

I don’t know why I don’t run at Lake Hefner more often, it’s quite pretty.

Lisa and I really rocked the run, I’m not going to lie. The last mile was rough due to some annoying winds, but we really just ran along with no incident. We stopped once for water and once to take off our long sleeves, but other than that we ran the whole time. Granted, our pace was no where near fast – but that wasn’t the point. We had a great time and I’m so happy to have a new PDR!

After the race was over we had lunch at Mama Roja on the lake. I had a black bean taco salad.

It was pretty good! Of course, I also had some chips/salsa/queso. Hit the spot.

I’m completely worn out right now, but I think a friend might be coming to visit me later. Gotta unload the dishwasher, finish the laundry and clean. So I better get moving!

Have a great day friends :)

  1. HUGE congrats! I *knew* you could do it! So glad you had company and enjoyed it- what great scenery!

    I can’t think of a better post-run meal :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  2. You guys looked like you had an awesome time! I’m wondering though….no green clothing for St.Paddy’s or can we just not see it? sorry it popped into the brain and demanded to be typed :-)

  3. Yay… congrats on your new PDR! I’m so glad that you ran the race. Do you ever notice that we rarely regret the “yes” decisions that we make, but often regret the “no” decisions (or the opportunities that we turn down)? It’s the craziest thing!

That pic of the lake is gorgeous!

  4. I forget about how pretty Lake Hefner is, and that is saying something because I stare right at it on my way home from EVERYwhere! lol
Panera and I have been apart for much too long!

So glad you did the race and had fun. :)

  5. Congrats on a new PDR!! You definitely inspire me not to be quite so afraid for this Half – I think you had the right mindset in not doing this for anything other than fun. Gorgeous weather and great way to kick off the week ahead! :)
