Thank you guys so, so much for your response to my post this morning. You are all amazing! Each and every comment made my day. Seriously, you have no idea.
Since I waxed on all philosophical like this morning, I left out the usual ramblings that I usually cover. Like the fact that I ate this snack yesterday that will probably gross 50% of you out.
Yes, that’s cottage cheese and peanut butter. And yes, it was good. If you’re into that sort of thing. Which I am.
After that I left work and went on the date, which was short so it went fairly well
In all honesty, this guy is kind of perfect on paper. He’s the type of guy I’ve never dated in the past, and the type of guy I probably should date. But I’m not sure if there’s any zsa zsa zu (Sex and the City anyone?). We’ll see though. We’re going to a basketball game on Sunday.
Work was awesome again. We got to test out the gait analysis center on each other, and I found out that I’ve been running in the wrong type of shoe. Good to know!
This morning I had a green monster, and later on I enjoyed an Asiago Cheese bagel.
Yummy. Lunch today was at a meeting. Subway, carrots and fruit.
Perhaps you see my beverage lurking in the background? Yes, that would be a Diet Coke.
It is because of this that I’ve decided to begin a Crap Free Week, effective tomorrow. I’m not going to be super strict about it but I’m not going to consume artificial sugar, canned or overly processed food and I’m going to really try to avoid added sugars. I need to get out of the habit of letting myself make these bad choices. Not that I’ve been eating terribly, but it definitely hasn’t been quite as healthy as I prefer to eat.
Oh, did you know that today was National Spinach Day? Of course I celebrated.
It was so pretty outside! I wish I could have spent more time out there. I get to tomorrow though. I drank that at the part-time job. A lot of product was out tonight. There’s already so much stuff I want. I’m going to have to control myself or else I’m not going to make any money, haha.
When I got home I had some leftover beet salad from my dinner date last night.
A beet, goat cheese and pistachio salad to be exact. Sounds delicious, right? My date, we’ll call him B, was absolutely grossed out that I ordered this, which I thought was hilarious. He’s pretty much a meet and potatoes kind of guy. Not a perfect match food wise… I made sure to point that out. Like fifty times.
The beet salad was absolutely delicious, but I was still hungry so I had Amy’s Tomato Bisque.
It was good to get it out of the pantry, since it’s not allowed during crap free week
It’s seriously one of my favorite canned soups though!
Alright, I am about to head to bed. I get to sleep in until the ripe hour of 7:30, and if I got to bed by 11:30 that means I get a whole 8 hours of sleep. Yay!
Do you think it’s important to have similar food tastes as your significant other?

PB and cottage cheese sounds amazing to me. Especially with a wee bit of jam.
Glad the date went well…you got plans to see him again? I don’t think it’s essential to have the same food tastes because things change. My mom married a man who lived off froze dinners and peanut butter sandwiches, but he was willing to try new things and now eats pretty much anything….and makes a mean chicken soup!
pb and cottage cheese is amazing!! pb and greek yogurt is amaze too, give it a whirl.
I don’t think you need to have similar food tastes as your SO. As long as you/your SO aren’t totally grossed out, make fun of eachother or are eating really disgusting foods. I say to each their own!
I need to have that instant click to keep seeing someone…I supposed I should let go of that mentality though because sometimes people are nervous on first dates and need time to open up and get comfotable…I don’t know! I suck at dating!
I’d go for cottage cheese and pb!
Sometimes the Zsa zsa zsa comes later. I’d give it a few more dates.
Life would be easier if Stephen and I liked the same foods, but it’s certainly not a deal breaker.
just found your blog and looking forward to reading, i love cottage cheese and PB – actually i love PB on just about anything =)
The boy situation sounds like a tricky one. I’m never quite attracted to the ones I really should be attracted to (the good on papers and I never seem to spark). Instead, I go for the guys I shouldn’t be… every time. Maybe I seem to like the challenge? It’s quite annoying.
Good luck with the no crap week. I’ve been considering something like that myself coming up after Easter (let’s face it, I WILL fail with all that holiday food I’m going to run into).
PB + cottage cheese AND beets!? Girl, let’s hang out and go eat together now please.
I’m a little late responding, but after reading that amazing letter you received, I can’t help but agree. You are truly one of the most “real” and unpretentious bloggers out there and THAT’s why I ADORE your blog. You’re humble, smart, fun, open to trying to trying new things, and not some crazy competitive fitness addict. Love you!
Ooooh a 3rd date huh? Good luck, and I totally know what you mean about him being good on paper and not having the spark. That’s so annoying.
The Man and I definitely had some different tastes when we first started dating however as time has gone on and now that we live together I can see how much he has started enjoying healthier foods more and more – ones that he always thought he didn’t like bc they just weren’t prepared right! I don’t think it’s a huge deal at all though, as long as the other person is cool with letting you do your thing then no biggie
As far as I’m concerned, peanut butter goes with everything so I’m now curious to put some in my CC!
I totally get the “zsa zsa zu” thing. But sometimes “zsa zsa zu” can be developed over time. Confession time – my fiance didn’t give me that feeling when we first started taking. But he was just so sweet, so considerate, so respectful that I didn’t have in my heart to stop dating him. It would have been like kicking a puppy. And slowly, as I fell in love with him, the “zsa zsa zu” developed. It took us about 3 months but it happened and I’m glad I didn’t let my “good on paper” guy get away now!
Glad your date went well!
I don’t think your partner needs to have the same taste in food as you as long as you are both willing to compromise sometimes and try new foods. My husband really hated all vegetables and now we have found a few he likes!
I like cottage cheese, but ONLY with something to sweeten it up. Is that weird? I mix in a packet of stevia and chocolate protein powder and a little cocoa powder and it is amazing!! But plain CC does gross me out for some reason.
I definitely think you should keep giving this guy a chance. Sometimes chemistry doesn’t happen right away, but develops slowly once you keep getting to know one another. Andrew and I like pretty much the same food, but he’s definitely a meat and potatoes kind of guy and I’m totally a mostly veggie/GM/PB type of girl. But we compromise and it works out!
Are you guys gonna go to a Thunder game? If so, I’m jealous. I still haven’t been to one…crazy! I guess they kicked Laker’s booty last night!
Im so excited to check out the new store. Does it cost much to get your gait tested or whatever? I’d love to know…having the right shoe seems to help a ton from what I’ve read!
I agree with all the other girls…im glad you are giving the guy a chance. Hopefully that spark will start to form!
As far as good—I think it goods if you guys both like the same foods—makes it easier, BUT, if you dont—I think it’s fine too–maybe he could get you to try things you wouldnt, etc.
No … not in the beginning … trust me, food tastes can change. My hubby was very limited in his food choices, and didn’t eat veggies when I met him. Now he will eat anything I make, and loves veggies!
Actually, PB and CC together sound amazing! I love both, so….why not?
I always date the wrong guys….but the good ones I just don’t have any zsa zsa zu with!
I know one day I will, though…they are out there! I hope to find a guy who likes to eat healthy, too, but I have also seen SO many guys who, after they are in relationships, really learn to love healthy eating. Veggies aren’t so bad, after all!
thank god you made up for that vomit-inducing shot of CC+PB with that GLORIOUS cheese bagel! haha. i kid. but really, that bagel looks amazing. i *wish* marshall liked seafood and mushrooms.. but i will marry him anyway. no big deal. good luck with CFW and have a great weekend! mwah!
Glad that the date went well! Sometimes, it just takes time to become *more* attracted to a person.
My first year out of college, I worked at Coach part-time in addition to my full-time job. Thanks to the 50% discount, I netted no income but walked away with a bunch of nice bags, sunglasses, shoes, etc.!
I need to get back into subway…i just worry the veggie sandwich will leave me a hungry beast….(i have a severe aversion to turkey I am working to get over…)
S
My boyfriend and I dont have similar food tastes. He does try the things I make though, so I give him some major credit for that.
I think all that matters it that theyre accepting of what we eat, and dont poke fun at it.
I say give this guy a chance, because you never know. My ex boyfriend (yes I realize an ex isnt a good example but hear me out) chased me for years and I was NOT interested in him. He was my best friend and I didnt think it was a good idea. But I gave him a chance, and I am SO glad I did. Despite everything, I would have missed out on something amazing.
It cant hurt to try right? If theres no spark, well then theres no spark. But sometimes it takes a little while to feel it.
Gross?!

Are you kidding me?!
CC+PB is the most amazing combo ever!
Plus, gotta love Subway. Right?
Have a great week, girl!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
well…my hubby’s a vegetarian and i’m not, so obviously i think it’s okay to have differing tastes
Why is it that the guys we SHOULD date are never the ones we WANT to date?
Why is it that we do not live in the same city?
Why is it that I do not like cottage cheese?
Have a happy MONDAY!
I am going crap free this week too! We only have two weeks til we leave for vacation…eek! No booze, processed carbs, etc.
I think it helps to like SOME of the same things but you don’t have to eat the same way every single day. That would be boring!
I had a beet salad with blue cheese the other day that was amazing as well!!
My boyfriend is a meat and potatoes type of guy, but if I put the effort into making a meal he has no problem eating it! It’s can be fun at times!
