Man… that whole rest and relaxation thing did not exactly happen this weekend. Yesterday was every bit as busy as my weekdays were this week! But it’s okay. It’s good to be busy and have lots going on. Otherwise I’d be complaining about being bored.
My morning started bright and early for a Saturday. I got up around 7:30 to get ready for work. Breakfast was a yogurt bowl.
I had 3/4 cup Greek yogurt, a banana and tablespoon of almond butter. Yesterday was Day 1 of my Crap Free Week, and this meal was right in line with my goals for the week.
I took a Green Monster to sip on during my six hour shift at the part-time job.
Work was so great again yesterday. We weren’t officially open, but we let a local running club come in to pick up some race packets for a marathon they’re traveling to tomorrow. We got to talk with a lot of really seasoned runners, and help them through our gait analysis system. It was awesome!
Even more awesome was that I got to meet a fellow Oklahoma bloggista, Justine. She was the sweetest thing ever and she was adorable. I’m so happy she came by! I got to help her with the gait analysis and we talked about running shoes, green monsters, Whole Foods and a dozen other things. It was so fun.
After work was over I was starving, so I ran home and had a quick lunch.
Steamed sweet potato and cottage cheese topped with one whole egg and one egg white, oh and of course some Frank’s hot sauce. You can’t take away my condiments! Kind of random, but I had to throw something together quickly so I could get to the gym in time to get a run in. I wanted to run outside, but it was raining and the wind was blowing like crazy and I didn’t want to get sick all over again.
I hadn’t ran since my 8K two weeks ago, so I was worried it wasn’t going to go well. I just stuck to my training plan (instead of trying to make up missed runs), which called for me to walk 1 mile, run 3 miles and walk another mile. The running portion went extremely well! I didn’t feel like I’d lost any endurance at all, which was a huge relief. I’m supposed to do 6.5 miles tomorrow, which is daunting, but I think it’s going to go great!
After the gym I zipped by the grocery store because I needed to stock up for Crap Free Week. Look how veggie-ful my fridge is.
Feels so good to see all that freshness in there.
I was supposed to go home and see my Mom tonight, but she decided to come up to the city since I was so busy. My brother and SIL came over and we went to a nearby Mediterranean restaurant. I had a salad and some fresh hummus with pita. No pictures because their mood lighting was pretty much pitch dark with candles. I hate places like that. The food was really good though!
Then, even though I wanted to collapse in a heap, I let my brother and SIL talk me into going out for a glass of wine. They claimed that I’ve been too busy lately and needed to make time for them. I don’t consider wine to by crap by the way, so it’s allowed this week
I got to bed later than I would have liked and woke up freakishly early this morning. I can’t decide if I want to get up now and be productive. Or try to take a nap so I can have energy for the week to come. Decisions, decisions.
I hope your weekends have been going well so far. Enjoy the rest of it!

YUM – loved the sweet potato combo!
Can´t wait to try it
Have a great week, girl!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
oh very fun that you got to meet Justine! Sorry about the late night text—whoops
Sounds like a fun weekend. Wine is definitely not crap!
Wine is necessary for sanity. That’s all there is to it.
Your refrigerator looks glorious compared to mine- lol. Something to work on…
Fridge looks GREAT! I need to try a crap free week…
S
A life without wine simply isn’t worth living. haha
Ur crap free week is inspiring me!! I think i’ll try to incorporate a few more non-crap item this week!
that restaurnat sounds nice. your parttime job sounds nice kacy.
Hey, wine has a ton of antioxidants! It is most definitely not crap!
I love that picture of your fridge; it looks so full of deliciousness!
I tried to focus on more veggies today when I was out shopping too! I need a crap free month, I’ve been eating too many carbs and processed snacks!! Doesn’t it feel good to have a healthy plan!!
The gait analysis sounds cool! Glad the job’s still going well.
Have a great night, sweetie!
Great job on your run! Good luck on the 6.5 miles tomorrow
When I go to bed late and wake up early, I always get up and then end up crashing in the afternoon!
Your fridge is so fresh… perfect set-up for CFW!
I think this needs to be a crap free week for me too … I know I will be eating everything under the sun when I am in NY, so before then I need to eat very clean!!
Hehe…only a food blogger would complain about mood lighting! I hate it too.
So glad that you are still enjoying your new job! And so cool to meet another blogger while working
Good luck with the run!
Mmm look at all those veggies! Glad to hear your run went well! Good luck getting back on track with your training plan!
haha…wine is NOT crap either! and i love the idea of crap-free week – i have had too many beers, rando foods and eating patterns this week as well. back to fruits + veggies, whole grains and protein…sans sugar. that IS my downfall.
i feel ya on the busy weekend too – i feel like i need a weekend from the weekend! however, i am like you, and i would totally have been complaining if i had nothing to do, so c’est la vie! love ya lady – have a great monday
Look at all those fresh goodies! I love seeing a stocked fridge and empty pantry
Less processed that way.
Your fridge looks so fresh and healthy! I wish mine looked like that right now!
A glass of wine definitely isn’t crap!
The Mediterranean Diet is full of great reasons why drinking red wine is good for you. (antioxidants) So after my trip to the Wine Emporium on my way home from work, I’ll raise a glass to you. And I think it might be a good idea if I ate crap food-free for a week!
I hope I have the same success next weekend with my long run. I missed my last one of 8 miles and this weekend calls for 9.5m.
