Ms. Potato Head

Yesterday was a nearly perfect day. I woke up at 6:30 and leisurely began my day (you all know I love my leisurely mornings).

After getting around I headed to the gym for a back-to-back workout sesh of Body Pump + 4 miles on the elliptical for cross training.

Then I headed to the grocery store to stock up on veggies.

Unbeknownst to me, it was cold and windy outside yesterday, but I still wore shorts to the the gym/grocery store as I was not on top of the weather happenings.

It’s funny how many people will verbally assault you for wearing shorts when it’s cold outside. It’s like you did it as an insult to them. Sorry good patrons of Oklahoma City – it won’t happen again (yes, it will).

When I got home, I put the veggies away without eating them and made one of my latest food obsessions.

Whole wheat toast + egg + meunster cheese and eventually a hefty dose of Frank’s hot sauce.

I never thought I’d see the day, but I have developed an affinity for runny egg yolk.

I have always abhorred the thought of it, but after an accidental runny yolk situation a few days ago my mind has changed. I’m quite progressive like that.

That’s not my only food obsession lately though, I’m also head over heals for potatoes.

Those were some garlic roasted fingerling potatoes but I’m loving them all right now – red potatoes, Idaho potatoes, sweet potatoes I don’t discriminate.

Just call me Ms. Potato Head.

And for proof that I’m still consuming vegetables occasionally…

Although, truthfully, I’d kind of like some potatoes right now.

Good news! The SIL made it through her surgery okay! I haven’t talked to her yet this morning but I’ll keep you updated on her status.

What foods are you obsessed with lately?

Favorite way to eat potatoes?

  1. I love runny egg yolks but can never get them right at home! Cooking eggs is NOT my specialty !

Hmm.. best way to eat potatoes… I’d have to say either baked with some butter or frech fries dipped in ketchup!

  2. Runny egg yolks are the best. I’ve become obsessed with green beans – I never liked them until I tried them cooked in a skillet. I feel like I could eat them every day.

  3. I never have really had a runny yolk so I dont know if I would like it or not! I have to say it does freak me outa bit, but i would totally be up to try it!

I am LOVING kale chips lately, I cannot get enough of them!

  4. Lately my biggest food obsession is brussel sprouts…which has been my obsession for months now. I keep waiting to get sick of them but it just hasn’t happened. There are worse things.

My favorite way to eat potatoes is to roast them with olive oil and garlic. YUM.

  5. Latest food obsession is probably still roasted brussels. And when I was in 5th grade I did a presentation about potatoes as my favorite food. I used to eat 3 baked ones in a meal. I love baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, fried potatoes, boiled potatoes, potato salad, potato chips…bubba gump style.

  6. I’m so happy to hear you have embraced the runny yolk! One of life’s simple pleasures, for sure.

I had a peanut butter and pumpkin quesadilla last night that is going to be my newest obsesh.

Glad to hear things went okay for you SIL!
