Two belated birthday gifts to myself arrived in the mail yesterday. I’m over-the-top excited.
I’ve wanted a Garmin for a really long time.
Even though I don’t really focus on speed, I wanted a GPS watch so that I could just take off running without having to go to certain marked trails or pay such close attention to mile markers.
The time has finally come!
I’ve been putting off this purchase because I certainly couldn’t afford it (even this one which was super cheap because it’s an old model they no longer make), but then I remembered I had two Amazon gift cards from my birthday. Cha-ching!
I haven’t really gotten a chance to play with it yet, but plan to take it out for a short run tomorrow and then we’ll be doing 9 miles together this weekend. I can’t wait to try it out!
I also purchased something else that I’ve been needing for a looooong time.
A foam roller! I had actually never foam rolled before last night, but my IT bands and hips keep getting tighter and tighter lately and I knew this would help.
It hurts, that’s for sure, but I think rolling regularly will keep me running more consistently throughout the year without having to take extended breaks do to pain (as I’ve always had to do in the past).
I’m not going to lie, I totally feel like a professional runner now
