Speaking of goodbyes, I’m already saying a really sad one in preperation for my move – I’m leaving my part-time job at Red Coyote Running & Fitness.
I mention the job a lot, but haven’t ever gone too much into detail about the company for safety reasons (I used to work there a lot and I didn’t want anyone to stalk me after work or something crazy… safety first). Now that I’m leaving, I really want to give them a huge shout out.
It really seems like just yesterday that I got the interview for a new running a fitness store coming to Oklahoma City, but it’s been over a year already!
I was bored with my job and my social life and thought a fun part-time job might help me shake things up a little, so when I was offered a position I was thrilled.
I had just started to build a running base and was secretly hoping to run a half marathon (although I hadn’t even announced that goal on the blog yet) and knew that being surrounded by runners all day would be great motivation.
I was so right.
Although my love affair with running is pretty up and down, I always enjoyed going into work and talking to runners and helping them find the right pair of shoes or equipment they need for their training.
Even though working at a running shoe store isn’t my career – every time I went in and completed a shift I felt fulfilled and happy by the time I left.
There’s just something about runners – they’re an incredible group of people and not a single runner is like the other.
The owners of Red Coyote are a married couple who have worked at some of the bigger, prestigious running stores around the country before coming and settling here to start their own store and it’s amazing what they’ve done with it.
In the short time that I’ve been involved with Red Coyote, I’ve seen the running community in Oklahoma City thrive and flourish and I have no doubt that it’s largely because of the passion those two individuals.
If you live in Oklahoma City and are ever need a pair of running shoes or some advice about running in general, definitely check them out – they are located in the Classen Curve shopping development with 105degrees and Republic.
They offer a free video gait analysis to assess your feet and running gait and recommend the best pair or shoes for you. The staff is great and knowledgeable and really care about your running journey.
They’re also at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon expo today if you need any last minute race gear. Check them out!
I’m off for some yoga and then a fun-filled family weekend. I know I’ve had a lot of those lately, but they’re numbered. I’ve got soak it up while I can!
