I succeeded on making this weekend a relaxing one, even after my midnight work ordeal on Friday night. Saturday I ran errands, got in a run, finally bought some vegetables and then spent the rest of the night on the couch. Even though I had to opt out of some social invitations, I knew I needed the rest.
I rented Hereafter (recommended by the SIL) and Country Strong (because I’m a sucker for country music being from Oklahoma and all). The former was… okay, the latter was pretty good in my opinion. I even liked Leighton Meester in it, and I usually dislike her a lot.
Sunday afternoon, with renewed spirit, I met up with Stephanie for brunch at Chadwick’s in Old Town Alexandria.

This brunch was solid for so many reasons.
Champagne, screwdrivers and bloody mary’s were all $3. Say what? You know I had to get on that.

A damn good $3 bloody mary. I had a screwdriver before that. What? I didn’t go out on Saturday. It made sense at the time.
I had a really hard time deciding whether I wanted breakfast or lunch food, and ultimately decided on an omelet.

While this wasn’t the best omelet I’ve ever had, it was good and very reasonably priced – $9 for all that food, of which I at all but one bite of omelet and one slice of toast.
It was so good to chat with Stephanie and her friends, who are hilarious and fun as well. I rolled out fat and happy without emptying my wallet.
Super solid.
What’s your favorite breakfast beverage? Alcoholic – bloody mary. Nonalcoholic – coffee with half and half.

I loveeee brunch, I’m a mimosa girl, but had a delicious peach belini two weeks ago.
Alcoholic – definitely a mimosa, nonalcoholic – OJ. Apparently I’m a citrus nut in the morning.
Can’t go wrong with a mimosa (actually, I can cause I’m not supposed to drink bubbles : ) or a good screwdriver / fuzzy naval (I just call them oj and peach schnoppes, sounds less girly somehow). What’s great about breakfast drinking is you’re getting all kinds of vitamin c, too!
Otherwise I drink bottled water pretty exclusively.
Mimosa’s…can’t do Bloody Mary’s anymore from the tomato…nonalcoholic would be coffee or fat free cap.
I’d have to say mimosa’s most definitely! Non-alcoholic, coffee with soy milk and sugar-free vanilla syrup
I love brunch.
I also love morning cocktails. I dont care if its wrong. I think my favorite alcoholic morning beverage would be a mimosa, non alcoholic is probably coffee. You dont want to see me if I havent had a coffee.
Three dollar drinks- that’s awesome! I am a mimosa girl all the way. I always think I’ll like bloody marys and whenever I try them I want to gag. Sad.
$3 for a bloody mary is a damn good deal! I love bloody marys:)
Looks delicious and what a deal for the drinks! I love your dress. Where do you buy your dresses? You always look cute. *totally hitting on you*
I got it at Target, where I get 99% of my clothing these days. You’re welcome to hit on me anytime. Enough booze in AC and maybe we’ll make something happen.
Mmm, there are very few things I enjoy more than a long brunch. Love, love, lov.
I love mimosas, but coffee on regular mornings.
ever since I went to NYC I have been LOVING brunch!!! Coffee for sure!!!
super solid sunday brunch INDEED! such a good time and such a great place
laura’s sorority sister’s dad actually own’s both chadwick’s i found out – she wants to do a meetup on our next visit (she’s a blogger too and lives up there!) hope things aren’t too crazy for you this week!
$3 hooch? I need to go to that place!
My favourite breakfast beverages are:
Alcoholic – Mimosa
Non-Alcoholic – Black coffee
We don’t really have Bloody Mary’s in Canada, but what you call a Bloody Mary is very similar I think to our Caesars (they have clamato juice, vodka, spices, and usually a celery stick, pickle, or pickled asparagus, and sometimes lime).
Glad to hear that you got to have a relaxing weekend
I like Bloody Mary’s but only if they aren’t thick. I’m very picky about that.
Chadwicks in Friendship Heights used to be my go-to bar when I lived in MD right after college. I worked at a restaurant for a few months and we used to go there after our shift because it was right over the DC line and opened an hour later.
solid is right! sounds like a blast
