Lazy genes

It seems a lot of you agree with me that it’s worth being poor to live the life you want. I’m glad we’re all on the same page!

It turns out I won’t be going to Atlantic City this weekend after all, so I actually have a bit more cash flow than I thought.

This, paired with the fact that I worked until 8:30 last night, led me to a dinner that looked something like this:

Actually it looked exactly like that.

After 7 hours of not eating and stressing out, we decided that TGIFriday’s extended happy hour was in order.

I’ve long had a love affair with the Asian Potstickers from Friday’s, and at half off it was a done deal.

Appetizers for dinner really are a good choice at chain restaurants. Definitely more reasonable calorically, anyways.

I had an interesting conversation with my coworkers regarding possible future plans that would be quite exciting. Then, I went home did some yoga and crashed in bed.

The benefit to working late nights, is getting to come to work late the next day.

I had planned to use that time to get up and workout, but I ended up just sleeping in. My workout motivation has been rather iffy lately.

I must not have the workout gene. I’m not sure I really buy the exercise gene theory, but I will say I’m not entirely predisposed to working out regularly. I have to make myself do it 95% of the time.

On the other hand, I never have to make myself sleep or eat delicious food. Maybe I just have the lazy gene?

Usually this doesn’t bother me, but I’ve packed on some noticeable pounds in the past couple of months and working out should probably be on my regular to-do list. I’d say I get in 3-4 workouts per week, but they haven’t been very serious workouts. I guess I just need to step it up.

What’s your favorite appetizer to order at a restaurant?

Are your genes lazy, like mine, or super motivated?

  1. I love plain old chips and salsa. Although wings are always yummy, too.

And I actually think I have the workout gene – whatever that means. Maybe it’s just a compulsive need to feel like I accomplished something gene, that actually sounds more like-it.

  2. My genes have a split personality. Sometimes, they are super lazy and other times they cannot be stopped. My favorite app to order is crab dip. I have eaten that as my dinner many times in the past. :D

  3. My genes are all or nothing – i’m either all over it or completely sedentary. haha

“It looked exactly like this” LOL

I love potato skins! I’m not a big app fan, unless i’m making a meal out of it!

    • It’s just TGIFriday’s potstickers. They’re addictive. Actually, it’s whatever company provides those frozen potstickers to Friday’s, because they’re the same at BJ’s Brewery.

  4. I wouldn’t be too sorry about missing AC. People like to sell it as the East Coast Vegas and, wow. It’s just so not. I mean…it’s in jersey.

Lazy gene 110%, at least when it comes to working out.

And appetizers are my FAVORITE part of any good meal. I usually go for a mozzerella sticks, nachos, spinach dip….. and I fill up on bread too. Why I ever order entrees is beside me.

  5. My fave appetizer is spinach and artichoke dip with salsa – hands down! YUUUUM! Like the lazy gene comparison to Paige’s workout gene. I do not know how I feel about them per say, I think you either want to or you don’t and that’s that. :)

  6. I order appetizers all the time. They usually involve buffalo sauce in some way (I’m addicted to wings, I can’t help it)- sliders are always a good option, too! :) I don’t think I have the workout gene either, but I DO have an addictive personality (ie, I am very habitual) so once I start working out I usually stick with it.

  7. I think I have a bored gene today still…I’m lazy with working out but super motivated about work (and food). Go figure.

  8. You’re not going to AC at all now? This whole weekend was a bust from the start and now I’m stuck in CT with my annoying parents. BLAH! That dinner looks good. I’ve never had potstickers. Weird right?
