So…. restraint. How’ve I been doing on that, you ask?
Well, Wednesday night Tom and I went to Black Fox Lounge to use up a KGB Deal that was going to expire.
I had pasta and wine. Not exactly on the Weight Watchers list of power foods.
We only spent $16 on two entrees and three rounds of drinks though (plus a tip based on the pre-discounted price of course) – so at least it was cheapish?
Then, last night I met up with one of my favorites for happy hour at the new Buffalo Wild Wings in Ballston.
Kelly and I have been making more of an effort to hang out lately. We live really close to each other, but for some reason often fail at organizing get togethers. Hopefully we’re going to keep this roll going.
We drank a million beers (WW wouldn’t like that), but they were cheap AND I had a salad with grilled chicken and no cheese for dinner.
So… kind of a win?
Now there’s the issue of the barbecue I decided to have tonight, which will involve me making ten times more food than is needed and then eating most of it because there’s so much leftover.
Oh, and there’s a four hour beer tasting tomorrow (it’s like, right in my front yard so I have to go), and a birthday party at the W hotel.
M waist line and wallet are pretty much scared out of their minds. But me? I’m just excited.
Screw restraint.

1 million beers.
I love a girl who can keep up with me when drinking beer. So, basically I fell in love with you last night.
I think WW needs to add alcohol to the good health guidelines.
Yeah, how about making that a zero point food? At least we’d be happier while dieting?
I am having a very similar kind of week. Too many things to do! I’m in the “screw it” camp, too, though. It’ll be easier to curb the excess once it’s too cold to go outside. That’s what I like to tell myself.
Yeah, I completely agree. Except for football related activities, I’m a hermit in the winter. It conserves money for the next summer’s ridiculousness.
Yep. Restraint can be overrated. I’m really trying to drop these annoying last ten pounds (and by that I mean saying it and doing nothing), but the problem is that I won’t give up my wine (or cheese). And I won’t get up early enough to fit in more than a half hour workout. So it will be interesting to see how this turns out.
Screw it. You look great and wine and cheese are our friends and love us just the way we are.
I wish I was going to said beer tasting with you. A wise William Blake once said, “those who restrain desire do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained.” Have a great weekend! <3
Yeah, I think it’s going to be really cool! I had no idea it was even happening, but it’s so close to my apartment I couldn’t say no!
Restraint is for the birds. I miss you guys so hard right now.
I know, we toasted you with our Goose Island’s last night since we had to miss the undie dash. So sad.
I was good all week so tonight I plan on eating no less than 27lbs of Indian food and drinking a vat of wine. I need to come back and visit ASAP so I can partake in a SWHH.
I was kind of worthless all week, but I’m going to do something similar
YES, COME BACK!
I already know tomorrow’s weigh in will not be good, but meh whatever. We had a family party and my aunt and uncle are the best cooks in the world. Eating perfectly grilled beef wiht my fingers and washing it down with cookies is worth a pound or two : )
I concur.
Restraint has been absent from my life for a good three months now and I’m not missing it at all. My bank account and skinny jeans feel differently, but I’ll worry about that later.
Maybe skinny jeans won’t be in this Fall?
Love this post. The end.
