Bread and cheese zone

I ran last night for the first time in nine days!

Just this past Sunday I was asking myself if I’d ever feel like getting back into my workout routine.

I hadn’t been feeling it and I was paralyzed with goal fear, so I didn’t force it. Then, this week my motivation returned with a vengeance!

I ran 4.5 miles at an easy pace. Sadly, my leg still hurts. Happily, my endurance felt great. I guess one outta two ain’t bad.

I’m planning to only run 3 times per week until the half to avoid further aggravating my injury. In between that I’m going to do lots of yoga and hopefully a little strength training.

After the run, my appetite was meager again, but I still wanted to get in a decent meal – and try out the Nature’s Pride Oven Classics Oatmeal bread Foodbuzz sent.

I wasn’t feeling as spunky in the kitchen as yesterday, so I just whipped up a cheesey egg in a basket with a side of carrot sticks.

Clearly, I’ve been in a cheese zone lately. And a bread zone.

Eh, who am I kidding I’m always in that zone. In fact, I usually have a hoard of bread at my desk at work just in case. No lie.

I’ve also dominated one of the crisper drawers in the fridge at work, filled with cream cheese, fruit, yogurt and veggies. That’s how I roll.

Truth be told I need some green veggies in my life. Truth also be told, I don’t have enough money in my account to cover my bills this month. That could be a dilemma…

Q: Do you keep hoards of food at work?

From here to next Tuesday

Good morning friends and happy Monday! I’m feeling pretty good about this start of the week because I’m taking off this coming Friday and next Monday to go visit a friend. Hooray for four-day work weeks!

Yesterday I finally got the rest and relaxation I’ve been needing. I slept from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday night and woke up feeling like a million bucks. Sleep really is the most important thing for our health, I think. I was starting to fall apart without it last week.

Yes, sometimes I feel lame because I stay in so often on the weekends, but I hate starting the week off sleep deprived.

For breakfast I had an egg in a basket and an apple.

I was pretty lazy for most of the morning. I’ll be going non-stop until next Monday, so I knew so down time was necessary.

When I got hungry for lunch I had to get creative, because I seriously have no food in my house. I was still thinking about the smoothie I had on Saturday, so I went that route.

I am running really low on protein powder, so I bulked this smoothie up with a container of Raspberry Chobani and some shredded coconut. For the base I just combined almond milk with 3/4 cup frozen mixed berries. The result was tropical and delicious.

The smoothie was the perfect fuel for me to hit up Body Pump for the first time in almost two weeks, and the class kicked my booty from here to next Tuesday. My calves are screamin’ today!

I usually don’t go to the Sunday afternoon class because I love going to the Monday night class, but my work schedule is off this week so I decided to switch it up.

When I got home I showered and had a friend over I haven’t seen in forever. We sat out by the pool and ate pizza until the sun went down and a huge lightning storm set in. Then we sat on the porch and watched the storm. It was a quintessential summer night.

By the time he left it was well past my bedtime, so I crawled under my freshly changed sheets (one of life’s most wonderful simple pleasures, no?) and fell asleep without any trouble.

I’m not sure I can ask for anything more.

Well, I can ask for one thing…

I need some more whey protein powder, preferably that I can buy from Wal-mart for under $20. Anyone have suggestions of any that don’t taste like crap?

Thanks! Have a fabulous Monday!
