Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Last night I went out with a friend and met up with some of his friends. We were talking about doppelgangers, and I looked at one of his friends and immediately said, “you look like the guy with glasses on Are You Afraid of the Dark?

I was amused by that spontaneous statement for several reasons.

First of all, I don’t even know where it came from because I haven’t thought of that show or any of it’s SNICK (I totally had this wrong and referred to it as Nick at Night, thanks to Mason for correcting me) counterparts in years. I loved it though. Friday nights were my favorite and I watched until well past the normal age for watching Nickelodeon.

I was also an avid reader of Goosebumps and later Fear Street, and played Are You Afraid of the Dark with my friends in the woods by my grandparents house at night. I like to be scared. I guess this is why I grew up to love horror movies. It’s also why I want to go on a ghost tour in Baltimore, although no one wants to go with me.

The statement was also funny because I was so spot on, the guy did look exactly like the actor, whose name is apparently Ross Hull.

I don’t have a picture of the actual person to prove my spot onness, but trust me. Maybe I should be a professional doppleganger spotter? There was also a Seth Rogen, a Heidi Montag, a Hugh Laurie and a Ben Affleck in attendance.

Sadly, I don’t really have a doppleganger. I’ve been told I look like several people, but nothing very regularly. I’ve also never had a nickname. Clearly, I’m deprived.

I’m also deprived of sleep. Happy hours for me never seem to end after an hour. I didn’t get to sleep until way past my bedtime (after another very upsetting development in the moving company from hell drama).

I did discover a pretty decent Wednesday night happy hour option at Rock Bottom Brewery – $1.50 beers until 9 p.m. I also had a veggie burger and coleslaw there that did me quite right. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a good veggie burger.

The night ended with PBR cans and Ms. Pac-Man until I turned into a pumpkin and had to metro home.

Did you ever watch Are You Afraid of the Dark or SNICK?

Do you like to be scared?

Who’s your doppleganger?

Seven Links to Enlightenment

Hey ya’ll! Looks like this this seven links blog chain thing has finally crept its way onto Low… and Behold!

Here are the rules:

1)  Blogger is nominated to take part

2)  Blogger publishes his/her 7 links on his/her blog – 1 link for each category.

3)  Blogger nominates up to 5 more bloggers to take part.

4)  These bloggers publish their 7 links and nominate another 5 more bloggers

“And then the cycle continues until every one and their mother has done it.” Quote from Steph, who was kind enough to tag me. I’m sure these links will change your life. Are you ready?

Most Beautiful

Like many other bloggers, I’m not sure what this means. I guess I’ll go with my post about my broken engagement. It was very therapeutic and the responses I received were amazing.

Most Popular

Hands down, my most popular post was when I wrote about Yoga for Tight Hamstrings. Tight hamstrings suck!

Most Controversial

You know, sometimes I think I’m posting something that’s going to be really controversial, but it never really gets any negative response. I think that’s a product of the fact that very few people actually read this blog. One time I blogged about gas, which while not controversial was probably inappropriate. So we’ll go with that.

Most Helpful

I definitely think the series I wrote about my experience with depression was the most helpful. Depression is still a taboo topic in our society, and I enjoyed opening up about it and telling my story. I like to think it helped others in similar positions feel less alone.

Surprise Success

The only real recipe I’ve ever made up – Sweet & Spicy Glazed Veggies turned out to be wildly popular. It is a really good recipe. You should try it.

Most Overlooked

I don’t really ever think about this. I like each post to be successful, but I don’t sit around and grumble if a post doesn’t get as many hits as I thought it would. There’s always the next post. I do wish more people understood the joy that is The Stache, so I’ll go with that.

Most Proud

I was definitely the most proud of my post recapping my decision to stop being complacent in a job and town I wasn’t happy with and move across the country to start the life I’ve always wanted.

I’m not going to nominate anyone because I think I’m truly the last person to do it, but if you haven’t and want to – consider yourself tagged!
