Bullets

Hello hello! I feel like I got a lot accomplished today, most of which was on the work front and would definitely not interest anyone here, but some of which was pretty fun! Presented to you in bullet form, I:

  • Did some undercover research for my Secret Bloggie Valentine. Lots of ideas compiled and some items purchased. Woo hoo!
  • Googled “How Many Times a Day Does the Average Person Pee” and found that the most common answer was four. I pee 4 time before I go to work in morning! Who are these people? Or, more importantly, why in the hell did I even just type all that?
  • Shopped at Target with some b-day gift cards. Free Target loot rules.
  • Ate a bite sized piece of chocolate cake.

  • Finished the last of my veggie paella! I’m making a new recipe tonight, so I’ll be living off those leftovers for the next week. The joys/pains of living alone – depending on how you look at it.

  • Ate Chobani! Lovin’ my winnings. I’ll be so sad when they’re gone.

  • Left work :)

See, lot’s of fun stuff!

There is a lot of talk going on about the next winter storm that is supposed to hit Oklahoma. Supposedly we’re going to get up to 4 inches of ice before it turns over and we get 5 to 12 inches of snow.

I’m hoping it’s just a bunch of hype and we just get rain. But the last time I said that I got stranded in the middle of the highway during an Oklahoma Blizzard. So I guess I’m going to take all the necessary precautions. I got some good food-age at Target tonight and I have a plan of action to be able to take my work home with me if necessary so I don’t get behind.

It will be interesting to see how it all goes down.

How does your city handle winter weather?

Here in Oklahoma the weather people freak out about for days before, during, and days after. And we don’t get that many really bad storms so no one really knows how to drive right on the bad roads so most schools, churches and some places of work shut down even if it’s just a light storm. When I was in school I loved snow days, but now that I work and have deadlines it’s a bit annoying.

Have a good night loves!

Operations

Oy. Another stressful work day. But it flew by like Conan’s run on The Tonight Show. (Sorry, I heart you Conan).

The next few weeks are going to be incredibly insane at work, but the stuff I’m doing is pretty important and that makes it worth it. Being busy doing work that doesn’t seem to matter is a lot worse.

Anywho, I still have veggie paella coming out my ears, so I had s’more for lunch today.

I put some hot sauce on top after I took that picture. I was getting bored of it, and the spice really took it to another delicious level. I have one more tupperware of it left, and then no more paella.

I munched on three-fourths of a Clif Builder’s bar at the movie last night, so I had the remaining one-fourth today to tide over my sweet tooth.

An later on, I had a blooby Chobz, just because I could :)

Oh, and I also crunched my way through an apple. It was a snacky day I guess!

Okay, so it’s only twenty-five days into the New Year and I’m already starting to forget about my New Year’s Resolution. I started out with a bang by challenging myself to left weights more and doing fairly well at it, but the last week and a half has been pretty lame.

So this week is Operation Monday through Friday. The goal here is to challenge myself to get my booty to the gym Monday through Friday (um, pretty obvious sorry) so that if I choose to be a lazy ass this weekend (which has been the trend of late) it will be warranted. :)

Along with that challenge, I’m also going to embark upon Operation Hand Wash My Dishes. This is in an effort to be more green and also to cut down on my electric bill somewhat. I tend to rely on the dishwasher way too much, when really I am the only person dirtying dishes in my apartment and there’s no reason I can’t hand wash them.

So that’s that. As you can see, those are some pretty technical and complex operations. It’s going to take a lot of hard work, dedication and perserverance. But I think I can do it ;)

Do you hand wash your dishes? I’m a little nervous about not getting them clean enough for some reason. I’m going to give it a try though!

Give me my dunce cap

Hey guys! I’ve been a terrible blogger lately. I do apologize. Some weekends I don’t post because I barely did anything worth blogging about, and some weekends I don’t blog because I was too busy. This weekend was kind of a combination of the two. I was boring Friday night and then things kind of got crazy.

Work thoroughly wore me out last week, so by Friday evening all I really wanted to do with my life was shut myself in my apartment and never come out. I watched some TV on the couch and I watched some TV on the elliptical. Leftover paella was had for dinner along with a delicious orange for dessert.

Holly is right – oranges are bomb right now.

I stayed up until 2 a.m. watching TV and being lazy and woke up before 9 a.m. Pissed. Me. Off. I think I’ve lost my ability to sleep my life away on the weekends, something I used to pride myself on and something else that working for the man has robbed me of. I attempted to cheer myself up with oatmeal.

Simple and delicious oats: 1/2 cup old fashioned oats boiled in water with peanut butter mixed in and on a spoon, plus one very ripe banana. Perfection.

I did some more ellipticalling at home (note: did not go to the gym once this weekend) and then headed to the eye doctor where I dropped almost $600 in order to continue being able to see. I really need to get lasik!

Feeling sorry for myself for having to spend so much money, I decided to spend even more money and get a mani/pedi. My logic is often very flawed. But I had nothing else to do (besides go to the gym…).

When I got home I got adventurous and tried packaged tuna for the very first time. It was the kind in the air-sealed package, not the can and I think the flavor was sweet and spicy? I put it in a wrap with some spinach, greek yog and hot sauce and gave it a whirl.

Oh just looking at that picture makes me gaggy. Ew ew ew. I like fish, but this just did not do it for me. Chicken of the sea is not for me. I really wanted to like it, but sadly it did not happen for me. I did manage to choke down the majority of the wrap because I hate wasting (although the rest of the tuna sadly went in the trash bin far far away from my apartment so I wouldn’t have to smell it anymore) and then I did a weight lifting video on Exercise TV.

I really did have intentions to go to the gym, but a friend called and wanted to go to a concert downtown so I had to get ready in a hurry so I could have a ride. Because I suck at life documentation, there are no pictures from the night out. It was an interesting one though, in that I ran into a lot of people I hadn’t seen in awhile. It was a good time and almost drama free, so I was pleased.

The next morning I woke up feeling slightly less than refreshed, so I headed to Sonic for a diet cranberry limeade (my favorite hangover cure) and a breakfast burrito. I offer no apologies for this situation.

That meal took me back to college mornings. Sigh. I miss college. I even did some Facebook stalking while eating it.

Lunch yesterday was yet another wrap situation. I’ve definitely been getting down with my La Tortilla stash. I made a wrap consisting of spinach, my last Sunshine falafel patty, feta, and of course, hot sauce.

Then I lazed for a few more hours before meeting Taylor (ex-roomie) to see Avatar at the IMAX theater. I really didn’t want to see Avatar until after watching the Golden Globes, when I realized I was quite possibly the only person in the universe that had not seen it. It was my first 3D/IMAX viewing experience, and it totally blew my mind. The movie really was not my cup of tea, I just do not like huge productions like that and I have a hard time with 3-hour films, however I definitely appreciated the message and the beauty of it. Probably won’t watch it again though.

It was 8 p.m. by the time the movie was out and I didn’t feel like cooking dinner so I picked up a salad beast from Qdoba.

Inhaled that in about 3.95 seconds, watched the SAG Fashion Police (Kate Hudson really did look amazing) and headed to bed where I slept like crap. One of those sleeps where you wake up every 15 minutes and have crazy dreams the entire night and then roll out of bed feeling like you ran a marathon in your sleep. Boo.

Needless to say, I did not go to the gym this morning either. But I’m going this afternoon. I miss it.

And with that I will cease boring you with the details of my weekend. I have an update on my New Year’s resolution to challenge myself coming up in my post tonight, which will sadly be posted later than usual. I’ll try to get my act together one of these days.

Two hands

Good morning! First of all, I wanted to inform you all that comfy shoes definitely beat out heels with ya’ll. But it seems like a lot of you can appreciate a killer pair of heels as well. Also, I am wearing a lovely pair of flats today and my feet love me for it. They’d love a foot massage even more, but that’s neither here nor there.

Second of all, I believe that there are always two dynamics working in this world. The things that could have happened and the things that did happen. This post will be an exploration of those dynamics :)

On one hand, I could have cooked up a delicious meal last night – something along the lines of tofu cubes or lentil stew, both of which I have purchased all the ingredients for and need to make soon.

But on the other hand, I had 4 servings of leftover paella to eat up. So I went with that instead.

Even better than the night before, because the saffron had time to seep into the rice and veggies. Yum-o.

On one hand, I could have woken up at 5 a.m. this morning via the two alarms that I thought I had set and gone to the gym for a strength workout.

But on the other hand, I woke up at 6:15 a.m. with no memory of any alarms ever ringing.

I’m not sure if I slept through them, turned them off, or just dreamed setting them in the first place. One of the great mysteries of life.

So… on one hand, I could have decided to just give in a go back to sleep since I obviously didn’t have time to make it to the gym.

But on the other hand, I knew that I could still get in a BTN (better than nothing) workout if I got my booty out of bed. So I did, and I did some leg & ab exercises before getting ready for work.

On one hand, I could have had this measly orange for breakfast this morning since my BTN workout trumped my smoothie making.

But on the other hand, there were Panera bagels in the kitchen when I strolled into work. So I snatched up an Asiago cheese bagel, which is so flavorful  that it only needs the thinnest smear of cream cheese, and went along my merry way.

The orange will make a delicious snack later :)

On one hand, I could be stressed out about work today because it is going to be a super serious day.

But on the other hand, I’m choosing to revel in the fact that it’s Friday and busy myself with all the never-ending tasks at hand in hopes that the day zips by so I can enjoy another lovely weekend!

What’s one thing that could have happened one way in your day, but went in a whole other direction?
