Bullets

Hello hello! I feel like I got a lot accomplished today, most of which was on the work front and would definitely not interest anyone here, but some of which was pretty fun! Presented to you in bullet form, I:

  • Did some undercover research for my Secret Bloggie Valentine. Lots of ideas compiled and some items purchased. Woo hoo!
  • Googled “How Many Times a Day Does the Average Person Pee” and found that the most common answer was four. I pee 4 time before I go to work in morning! Who are these people? Or, more importantly, why in the hell did I even just type all that?
  • Shopped at Target with some b-day gift cards. Free Target loot rules.
  • Ate a bite sized piece of chocolate cake.

  • Finished the last of my veggie paella! I’m making a new recipe tonight, so I’ll be living off those leftovers for the next week. The joys/pains of living alone – depending on how you look at it.

  • Ate Chobani! Lovin’ my winnings. I’ll be so sad when they’re gone.

  • Left work :)

See, lot’s of fun stuff!

There is a lot of talk going on about the next winter storm that is supposed to hit Oklahoma. Supposedly we’re going to get up to 4 inches of ice before it turns over and we get 5 to 12 inches of snow.

I’m hoping it’s just a bunch of hype and we just get rain. But the last time I said that I got stranded in the middle of the highway during an Oklahoma Blizzard. So I guess I’m going to take all the necessary precautions. I got some good food-age at Target tonight and I have a plan of action to be able to take my work home with me if necessary so I don’t get behind.

It will be interesting to see how it all goes down.

How does your city handle winter weather?

Here in Oklahoma the weather people freak out about for days before, during, and days after. And we don’t get that many really bad storms so no one really knows how to drive right on the bad roads so most schools, churches and some places of work shut down even if it’s just a light storm. When I was in school I loved snow days, but now that I work and have deadlines it’s a bit annoying.

Have a good night loves!

Chicken and beer

Good morning! We had our first spell of winter weather this a.m. and I was not prepared. I’ve had a garage for the past two and a half years, so that whole icy windshield thing caught me off guard! I was only 12 minutes late to work though, so it’s kosher.

Thank you all so so so so so much for your comments on my last post. I’m one of those people who probably shares way too much info by nature, but I have never regretted any of the things I’ve written about on this blog. It’s so therapeutic. And a couple of people delurked to tell me they related, which is just about the coolest thing ever!

It’s actually kind of ironic that I wrote that post yesterday, because we had my SIL’s birthday dinner at what could possibly be the unhealthiest restaurant in Oklahoma. Seriously. It’s more commonly known as Eischen’s, or the oldest bar in Oklahoma, but I contend that there is nary a healthy item on the menu.

I’ve eaten at this place dozens of times over the course of my life, since it was 45 minutes from where I grew up and a state legend for it’s fried chicken. But this was the first time I’ve been there since I stopped eating meat (reminder: it’s not that I won’t eat meat, I just rarely do). It’s basically a chicken joint and a beer bar. Plain and simple. I joined in on the beer part.

Yep, Miller on a Monday. Hey that has a nice ring to it. Maybe I should do it more often ;)

Along with fried chicken, Eischen’s offers fried okra, nachos, white bread, sweet and dill pickles, pickled onions, and I think barbecue sandwiches (although I’ve never actually seen one of those). I, of course, had some fried okra.

No, I did not eat that whole thing, but I certainly did my part to help out :) I also had a pickle sammich, aka white bread with bread and butter pickles in the middle. Takes me back to my childhood I tell you.

For dessert, we had a cookie cake that I had picked up.

Although I do have a newfound love for baking, I didn’t have the time or the resources to bake anything myself. Also, my SIL requested a cookie cake, something I’ve never made before. I think everyone enjoyed my store-bought version.

Sadly, I woke up this morning to two text messages from family members saying that they were sick all night. It must have been the chicken, since I feel great and didn’t partake in the bird. Sometimes it pays to not eat flesh ;)

However, I have eaten chicken at Eischen’s plenty of times and not gotten sick, so who knows if that is really the culprit. I’ve also heard that it takes 24 hours to get food poisoning, so I really doubt it was that.

Anywho, this morning I decided to finish off my green juice and cleanse my system of all the friedness of yesternight.

It’s looking to be another busy work day, but I have a night to catch up with stuff around the house. I was supposed to go to a cooking class, but it got cancelled due to low enrollment. Disappointing, but I’m going to take the opportunity to unpack and perhaps start Shredding with Jillian!

I’ve rambled long enough, but before I go, my new blog friend Lisa, who is a fellow Okie is having a great pasta giveaway! Check it out, and check out her blog too :)
